FC Primorje has a deep-rooted connection to local traditions and a fierce determination that mirrors the essence of the valley’s famous wind, Bora. A dynamic sports team, where women are known as “Daughters of the Bora”, mirrors the fierce Bora wind itself— cold, strong, resilient, and unstoppable.
TOSLA Nutricosmetics has always championed the novel, the artsy, and the different. Supporting local artists, unconventional thinkers, and those who push boundaries. This collaboration with FC Primorje is a natural extension of that mission. Always being drawn to the unique, the underrepresented, and those who continue to strive for excellence despite the odds.
“You see, women’s football has long faced obstacles, often being overlooked or dismissed as less significant. But times are changing, and we’re proud to be part of that change. We’re committed to supporting the growth of women’s football, empowering young girls to chase their dreams on the field without limits.” says Primož Artač, CEO of TOSLA Nutricosmetics, and continues “Through this partnership, we aim to contribute to the empowerment and growth of the club, fostering gender equality in sports and promoting equal opportunities for women athletes in our community and wider.”
“This support from TOSLA Nutricosmetics comes at a crucial time, enabling the team to focus on their goals and aspirations without limitations.” says the president of the FC Primorje, Brigita Habjan Štolfa, and adds: “We want them to know that they don’t have to fit into a predefined box. They can be bold, they can be fierce, and they can be unapologetically themselves—values that both FC Primorje and TOSLA Nutricosmetics hold dear.”
Are girls doomed to fall out of love with sports?
To learn more about the persistent gender inequalities in sports, despite significant progress in women’s football, a March 2022 survey conducted by Women in Sport in the UK revealed concerning statistics. The survey found that 43% of teenage girls who were previously active in sports had disengaged after primary school—nearly double the rate of boys the same age (24%). Among these girls, over 60% cited fears of judgment and a lack of confidence as key reasons for their withdrawal.
Nevertheless, we believe the time has come to level the playing field and show that passion, talent, and determination are not limited by gender. Our mission is to ensure that every girl knows she can achieve anything she sets her mind to.
The Bora sisters will be long-term ambassadors and impact advisers, fully embodying TOSLA’s values. As team captain Maria expressed: “Being able to inspire the next generation of athletes and younger kids to be confident in expressing themselves in different ways, and not have to fit into a box — those are values I share with TOSLA.”
